Training

Youth Recreation Programs - The Township provides
a diverse variety of youth sports activities ranging from toddlers to teens. Current
youth programs include Recreation Soccer, Traveling Soccer, Football, Cheering,
Recreation Roller Hockey, Traveling Roller Hockey, Wrestling, K2 Hoops, Recreation
Basketball, Traveling Basketball, Tennis, Little League Baseball, Sr. League Baseball,
Golf, Track, Messy Masterpieces, Hula Dancing, Recreation Softball, Traveling Softball,
Lacrosse, Summer Clinics, Tumbling, Fun with Music, Petite Soccer, Special Needs
Programs and more.

Adult Recreation Programs – The Township provides
a wide variety of Adult Recreation Activities. Current Adult Programs include Yoga,
Aerobics, Men’s Soccer, Men’s Softball, Women’s Softball, Men’s Basketball, Men’s
Volleyball, Women’s Volleyball, Co-Ed Volleyball, Latin Aerobics and more.

Senior Citizen Recreation – The Township provides
a wide variety of Senior Citizen Activities, Clubs and Special Events. Bingo, fitness,
line dancing, walking program, Tai Chi, A.A.R.P, Old Guard, Senior Social Club,
Golden Age Club are an example of some programs. Special Trips and events are also
planned throughout the year for our Senior Citizen Community. Transportation is
provided free of charge for most Senior Programs.

Special Events and Trips – The Township provides
the community with countless seasonal trips and special events. Events are themed
for the season and all residents are welcome to participate. Some special events
include Ski Trips, Halloween Party, Fishing Contest, Holiday Concerts, Movie Under
The Stars, Kid’s Night Out, Christmas Basketball Tournament, Ice Shows, Wrestling
Tournament and more.

New Senior Adult Social Activity Center
– As of
September 2005, this new facility will provide a structured daytime program
that will allow homebound seniors and their caregivers a much needed break. The program
will include transportation, social and recreational activities, crafts & more.

Summer Concert Series – The Township provides
residents with musical concerts every Wednesday during the summer months at either
Kingsland Park or Memorial Park 1. Free popcorn and lemon ice is distributed for
residents to enjoy during the concerts.

Theatre Programs – The Township offers the community
an opportunity to participate in two theatre productions per year. Children and
adults are welcome to participate. Performances are held at the Nutley High School.
A summer theatre program is alo offered.

Rutgers Safety Training – The Township provides
this mandatory three hour orientation program for all coaches and volunteers that
interact in our youth sports programs. This program provides partial civil
immunity protection to volunteer coaches under the “Little League Law”.

Infant/Toddler CPR Training
– The Township offers
this vital tool for residents, day care providers and parents to educate them with
life saving techniques. Classes will be scheduled throughout the year.

Fingerprinting Program – The Township has instituted a fingerprinting program which allows any coach or volunteer to be fingerprinted
and placed on file with the state and federal government free of charge. It is mandated
that all volunteers and employees working with the youth of Nutley must be fingerprinted
and safety trained.

Senior Citizen Tax Assistance – The Township provides
assistance for seniors in filing tax returns during the tax season.

Essex County Clerk Program – On the first Wednesday
of each month the Essex County Clerk’s office is available at the Recreation Department,
44 Park Ave, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., for residents to obtain passports, Veterans
Licenses and Notary Public Services.
Parks and Public Grounds

Nutley Park System – The Township provides and
maintains 9 Parks equipped with walking paths, newly updated playground equipment,
bridges, bleachers and drinking fountains. Currently, we are installing decorative
lighting along the walking path of Memorial 1 (Mud Hole) to improve safety issues.
Residents are permitted to utilize parks for family or community based picnics by
obtaining a permit through the Recreation Department.

Shade Tree Division
- The Shade Tree Department
maintains, replaces, prunes and plants trees on township property. Diseased trees
and fallen limbs are also removed upon inspection. This division is equipped with
an experienced forester, who is available 1 day per week to evaluate and direct
as to specific actions needed to be taken for individual situations.

Park Permits - Nutley has two parks designated
for picnics Kingsland Park (Passaic Avenue and Rutgers Place) and Booth Park (Ravine
Ave and Harrison Street) . This is open to any Nutley Resident or Nutley Company.
A application maybe obtained at the Parks and Recreation Department, 44 Park Avenue
or call Mary Fenui at 973-284-4900 X2511 for more information. There is a fee of
$125.00 with a refundable deposit of $100.

Memorial Tree Planting Program
– The Township
offers a Memorial Tree Planting Program in memory of loved ones that have passed.
The tree is planted within our park and field system with a memorial plaque inscribed
with the phrase of choice. A Memorial Bench program is also available as of 2005.

Ball Fields – The Township provides and maintains
over 12 baseball fields and 4 soccer fields for leagues and residents to utilize.
Recently, Nutley East Little League Field was renovated and equipped with new scoreboards,
bleachers and fencing.

Tennis Courts – The Township provides and maintains
2 separate tennis facilities for residents to utilize. Permits may be obtained through
the Recreation Department. Tennis lessons are also available for residents age 5
through Adult.

Roller Hockey Rink – The Township provides and
maintains a Roller Hockey facility for township leagues and residents to utilize.
