Flash Flood Alert
October 25, 2021As per the National Weather Service in New York, the Township of Nutley is currently under a Flash Flood Watch until Tuesday, October 26, 2021 afternoon. A rapidly developing low pressure system south of Long Island is expected to produce heavy rainfall across the region. Rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches with locally higher amounts are possible. Rainfall rates may exceed one inch per hour at times. The heaviest rainfall is expected to occur late tonight into Tuesday morning. Governor Murphy has declared a State of Emergency effective at 8:00pm - Please avoid driving in or around the township during heavy wind and rain conditions.
- Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads or enter any body of water.
- Please DO NOT touch or go near downed wires as they should always be considered live.
- Anyone wishing to park their vehicles on higher ground in preparation of the storm, may utilize Municipal Parking Lot 1 overnight. Lot 1 is located off of Centre Street, behind the Nutley Diner.
