January 28, 2017 - Suspicious Incident

Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo advise that a  suspicious incident occurred, Friday 1/27/17 at noon.

Several Washington Elementary Students were in the area of Park  and Washington Ave when a man offered them cookies from a clear plastic bag. The children declined and went back to school and reported the incident.

Police reviewed camera surveillance and identified a grey or silver 4 door sedan possibly BMW enter the parking lot at time of incident and believe this was the vehicle the children described. The children described the man as 50-60 y/o/a balding and of Indian Descent.

Director Petracco said that the children did the right thing by refusing, and reporting the incident to their Principal, I commend them for being so alert.

Chief Strumolo said suspicious incidents are just that, suspicious that a person would offer children food, it concerns us and is our job to investigate to ensure that it was nothing more than a kind gesture. As was the case last week when a man offered a youngster a ride, believing he was a friends child.
