Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising that we are experiencing an increase in auto burglaries and thefts throughout our area.
Chief Strumolo said that this increase is statewide; Nutley Police have responded to several thefts and attempted thefts over the past few weeks. He advises that early morning hours car thieves drive throughout the area targeting running vehicles as well as higher valued vehicles. The suspect vehicles have all been determined to have been stolen from other jurisdictions. The latest attempt was a Mercedes Benz on Prospect St. Monday 4/4 and a Range Rover on Ridge Rd. Friday April 1.
Director Petracco urges residents NOT to let their vehicle idle unoccupied, and always remove the FOB and lock your doors to help reduce the risk of vehicle being stolen.
