Nutley Police Director Alphonse Petracco and Chief Thomas Strumolo are advising residents that the County and State is experiencing a spike in vehicle thefts.
Police Chief Strumolo said thefts are on the increase statewide and Nutley too has seen an uptick in vehicle thefts with the latest Saturday a 2012 Lexus left running on Nutley Ave . He said that all but one this year were left idling or had the vehicle key fob inside. All stolen vehicles except for a Jeep have been recovered, and urge resident to lock their cars and take your fob every time you leave your vehicle unattended.
Police Director Petracco said leaving your car running while unoccupied is not only dangerous it is a violation of the law.
