Parks Department Unveils New Equipment

Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci, assisted by Commissioner Tom Evans, recently unveiled the latest equipment addition to the Parks and Recreation Department’s arsenal.  The CAT 420XE Backhoe Loader will facilitate the efficient planting of both ornamental and large shade trees throughout the township.

“This new piece of equipment will help us be more efficient and versatile,” Commissioner Tucci stated. “We have planted 25 large shade trees, approximately 1,500 memorial trees and 150 street trees (annually). Despite regulations and restrictions imposed by utility companies and the like, we will be working with local tree groups to cite appropriately-sized trees throughout the township.”

Nutley Township is home to one of the most renowned parks systems in the country, one that allows you to literally walk through the parks from one end of the township to the other. “We are always looking for ways to maintain our high standards and our reputation,” Tucci added. “Adding things like the CAT 420XE helps us to continue to enhance our parks in a much faster and cost effective way.”
