Mayor's Message

I’d like to begin by thanking Commissioners Petracco, Scarpelli, Tucci and Evans and their respective departments for the great team effort in transforming the new Municipal Plaza and surrounding area into a Holiday Wonderland for all to enjoy at our annual Tree Lighting and Hanukkah Celebration. It takes a lot of planning, dedication and collaboration from all departments, and it was performed seamlessly and professionally, by all. I am in awe and very grateful for everyone’s hard work and commitment.

Thank you to Assemblywoman Carmen Morales, and Senator Britnee Timberlake and families, Reverend Sherri Smalls for the blessing; Rabbi Julie Roth (Shomrei Emanah) and Rabbi Marc Katz (Temple New Tamid) and all of our Commissioners for attending our wonderful ceremony. Special thanks to Downes Tree Service, Cliffhanger Productions, Michael Chieffo and DJMC Entertainment.

As you browse our newsletter, I hope you enjoy looking back at the multitude of events that took place in the Fall as well as making plans for upcoming events in the New Year, some of which include our Health Department blood drives; the Heart Healthy month celebration in February; Women’s History month panels in March and a NCIDC collaboration with the Nutley High School Asian American Student Union for the Lunar New Year in late January/early February.

On behalf of the Board of Commissioners, I wish all of the residents of our township a Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and a Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
