Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci announced today that Sparwick Contracting, Inc. is beginning the work of installing scour protection on the bridge at the corner of Passaic Ave. and Rutgers Pl. (Structure 0705-465) over the Third River under the direction and supervision of Essex County.  Scour protection is the installation of systems to prevent the erosion of soil surrounding marine structures to prevent erosion of soil supporting the bridge footings. This work is critical to maintain the bridge’s integrity.  Work will begin on or about January 13, 2025, and continue for approximately 3-4 weeks.  Traffic should not be affected by this work.
