Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci and the Department of Parks and Recreation are excited to announce several upcoming Spring programs for your children! These programs provide a fun and educational opportunity for kids to stay active, learn new skills, and build confidence.

Ancient Stories and Mythology (Grades 5-9)

Delve into the fascinating world of mythology! Students will explore Greek myths and fables, discovering the timeless lessons they offer. The program encourages participants to understand how myths have influenced cultures throughout history and gives them the opportunity to create their own mythical stories, blending creativity with historical insights.

Dates: Thursdays, 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Aspiring Authors (Grades 1-6)

Unleash your child’s imagination in this fun-filled writing program! Aspiring Authors combines reading and writing to inspire young writers to create captivating stories. Participants will learn the basics of story structure, idea organization, and audience engagement in a supportive and exciting environment.

Dates: Thursdays
5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Grades 1-3)
6:00 PM - 7:00 PM (Grades 4-6)

Contemporary Dance (Ages 6-8)

Explore the world of contemporary dance, blending elements from modern jazz and more! This class allows young dancers to express themselves freely while developing body awareness and coordination.

Edgar Allen Poe (Grade 9-Adult) ** NEW **

This course will enable young adults to analyze the poetry and short stories of Edgar Allen Poe. A fun class that will allow students to examine what makes Gothic Literature so interesting, by looking at the psychology and artistic talent within Poe's writing. Open discussion and students own creative Gothic writing will be encouraged.

Dates: Thursdays, 8:00 PM

KinderDANCE (Ages 3-6)

KinderDANCE is a pre-K program that incorporates music, movement, and fitness, while teaching basic educational concepts. It's a wonderful way for young children to explore creative movement.

Happily Ever Crafters (Toddlers)

This program is perfect for parents who want to spend quality, creative time with their toddlers. Each session includes storytime, singing, and crafting activities inspired by the day’s story.
