Nutley’s 46th Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade Scheduled for this Weekend, Saturday, March 1

On Saturday, March 1, the Township of Nutley will proudly uphold its tradition of hosting the 46th annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, organized by the Nutley Irish American Association (NIAA).

“The St. Patrick’s Day Parade is one of our Township’s favorite events,” Commissioner Mauro G. Tucci said. “I want to thank the NIAA not only for the parade and for all the great events they put on for us, but for what they do for the community. The parade is just one element of what happens on behalf of the NIAA. What they do is the glue that keeps communities like ours together; the St. Patrick’s Day parade is a celebration of that and so much more.”

The dignitaries for the 2025 NIAA St. Patrick’s Day Parade include John Kaufman (owner, Core Physical Therapy) as Grand Marshal, Kevin Smyth (lifelong resident, Washington School teacher and Nutley High School Rowing coach) as Deputy Grand Marshal, Mary T. Darragh (MTD Transport) as Member of the Year, Rachel May Hamilton (lifelong resident and Nutley High School graduate) as Parade Queen, and Police Patrolman Brendan Sim as Police Officer of the Year.

The day will begin with a special Investiture Mass at St. Mary’s Church in Nutley at 10:00 AM followed by the parade commencing at 1:00 PM at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Evergreen Street. The parade route will proceed north along Franklin Avenue and will conclude on Chestnut Street, at the Review Stand located in front of John Walker Middle School.

“The parade, along with the pub crawl where we honor the parade sponsors, are Nutley traditions like no other,” Mayor John V. Kelly III said. “We are all looking forward to the NIAA leading us down Franklin Avenue on March 1st, the high Holy Day of the year to us fine examples of Irish heritage,” the Mayor added with a smile.
