Nutley Update on COVID-19

The Township of Nutley is providing an update to the community on several important matters, including:

  • Additional known COVID-19 cases
  • New Executive Orders
  • Reminder to properly dispose of gloves
  • Other updates

In addition, we remind residents to stay at home and to observe social distancing if you must go outside.

New Known Cases
The Township of Nutley announced an additional 12 new known cases of COVID-19, bringing the Township total known cases to 422 and 28 deaths.

The Board of Commissioners thoughts and prayers go out to all of the deceased and their families. Flags in Nutley and across the state have been lowered to half-staff in honor of all we have lost. No one will be forgotten.

The Nutley Health Department is working diligently to track any interactions the individuals who tested positive have had with residents, and they will ensure that anyone at risk of exposure is provided with all of the information necessary, including being tested themselves if appropriate.

New Executive Orders
On April 29, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 133 reopening state parks and golf courses, and restoring the authority of county governments to determine whether county parks will be open or closed. The order takes effect at sunrise on Saturday, May 2. There are still restrictions that will be enforced. The full order, including the restrictions can be found here:https://nj.gov/infobank/eo/056murphy/pdf/EO-133.pdf

On April 29, 2020, Governor Phil Murphy signed Executive Order No. 132 allowing electronic petition submission and signature collection for initiatives and referenda. The full order can be found here: https://nj.gov/infobank/eo/056murphy/pdf/EO-132.pdf

Keep Nutley Clean and Safe – Properly Dispose of Gloves and Masks
The Township is once again receiving complaints about disposable gloves and masks being disposed on the sidewalk or street. Doing this not only is illegal and pollutes our town, but also puts our employees and neighbors at risk when they need to clean it up. Please respect our environment and our neighbors and properly dispose of PPE in the nearest garbage can.

Essex County Testing Facility
The Essex County testing site opened at Weequahic Park on Thursday, March 26, 2020 and is now open on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9am until further notice. They will be testing 600 people a day by appointment only.
