Nutley Update on COVID-19
The Township of Nutley is providing an update to the community on several important matters, including:
- Total COVID-19 cases in Nutley
- Indoor dining may resume July 2nd
- Other updates
COVID-19 Total Cases
The Township of Nutley announced a total of 508 cases and 36 deaths.
Re-opening of Indoor Dining
Governor Murphy announced today that indoor dining may resume on July 2nd, limited initially to 25% capacity. Additional health and safety guidance will be released within the next several days.
In addition, as of today, June 22nd, the following are permitted to reopen:
- Outdoor pools
- Non-contact outdoor sports
- Beauty salons
- Barber shops
- Cosmetology shops
- Day and medical spas
- Electrology facilities
- Hair braiding shops
- Massage parlors
- Nail salons
- Tanning salons
- Tattoo parlors
- Campgrounds at state parks and forests
2020 Census
Governor Murphy asked today that those who have not taken the time to be counted, to please go to 2020Census.gov and complete the questionnaire. Having the most accurate count is important for bringing federal money into the State of New Jersey, Essex County, and Township of Nutley.
Re-opening of Shopping Malls
Governor Murphy announced today that retail shopping malls can reopen on June 29, 2020. Masks or face coverings will be required and all stores will be limited to 50 percent capacity. Restaurants may provide take-out or provide outdoor dining, but food court seating and common seating areas will remain closed. Theaters and arcades will also remain closed.

If you need emotional support or are feeling anxiety or worry due to the COVID-19 pandemic, you can call the NJ Mental Health Cares number at 1-866-202-HELP (4357). It is staffed with a live mental health specialist 7 days a week, 8 am-8 pm.
Locally, the Nutley Family Service Bureau is accepting referrals and can be reached by calling 973-667-1884.
